moving it’s services into the cloud, workday has been able to streamline how it serves their customers. we were asked to communicate this year’s conference theme through the metaphor of an actual city’s businesses leaving its foundations to reform itself in all its beauty in the cloud.

around 40% of small business fail within two years of a natural disaster, these two spots are a call to action for those business to be prepared. we simulated an earthquake and a hurricane type flood, shooting practical facades and enhancing the effects with cg layers.

this opening sequence was created for the show; “crime: crossing the line”. it features crime stories that cross boundaries of space, time, and decency. the idea was to show a killer’s perspective, from premeditation, through execution to escape. shooting macro elements and scenarios, combined with footage from the reenacted scenes. creating a dark and grimy mind-set for the grim stories to follow.

running green, is a visual experiment in time. it explores the differences between subtle moments and prolonged movements. contrasting the natural with the synthetic, the man-made. combining these into one instance of space and time, you are left with a suspension of disbelief that is both surreal, and sedately captivating. using cinematic techniques, combined with computer generated elements, we have created a moment in time that is both impossible to exist and naturally tangible.

“omar & his skyhook,” is the story of a young boy yearning to go on his first fishing trip with his grandpa. when his wish is denied, omar finds the courage and mischievously steps out alone into the unknown world. when he lands his first catch, an unsuspecting predator swoops in and takes omar for the ride of his life.

collaborated with the mill, ny, to create this sequence that plays every time the tablet is booted up. the idea was for the droid logo to initiate a big bang that then collapses upon itself as a supernova. this then creates a black hole and the infamous droid eye.

it ended up being a 50/50 blend of cg particle systems and other digitally created elements, with practically filmed textural elements that we worked with director of photography, russell swanson to capture on the RED camera.

glamorgellons was half inspired by an intriguing, often debated disease that sounds straight out of a science fiction novel. morgellon’s disease is believed to cause delusional parasitosis, and the emergence of brightly colored hairs from the skin. this was part of the on going collaborative series, psst! pass it on, curated by bran dougherty-johnson.

collaborated with the great folks at psyop to bring this ink based masterpiece to life. we shot custom ink footage to be tracked in and blended with cg ink and fluid passes. all the motion was based off of mo-cap, and the figures were shaded/textured with a plethora of different options. in compositing, all those elements were wrangled and specifically placed for seamless integration with practical elements.
